Blessed Hope Catechism Devotional (Q/A 8)

blog

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters”

Question 8: Who made God?

Answer: No one made God; He is from everlasting to everlasting.

The question of who made the Creator is alway interesting. Typically the one who asks has yet to grasp the depths of God’s sovereignty, work, and purpose. God has created all things as is the point of Genesis 1:2. In so doing God has dominion over all things. In have dominion over all things God works it all for his purposes and his glory.

Creation attests to the glory and majesty of God. He alone has been since everlasting, he alone creates out of nothing, and he alone answers to no one but himself. Therefore, when we ask “who made God?”, we are seeking to grow in our depth of worship through knowledge of his work and nature.

What influence does God’s nature have over your heart? Do you stand in awe of God as being before and beyond all things? Do recognize the uniqueness of God and how his glory fills the heavens? When you seek to worship God remember that the Creator created creations as a testimony to his glorious nature.
